Dr. Myrna Halpenny,B.A., D.D.S., M.R.C.D.(C
Born and raised in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dr. Halpenny received her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education at the University of Saskatchewan in 1968, after which she taught high school for two years in Montreal.
Dr. Halpenny entered the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University and graduated in 1974. Following two years of private practice in Vancouver and Richmond, she pursued her specialty in Endodontics at the University of Oregon.
Returning to Vancouver in 1979, Dr. Halpenny became a Certified Specialist in Endodontics in British Columbia. Since then she has successfully practiced her specialty in partnership with Dr. John G. Fraser.
After serving on the council of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, Dr. Halpenny was elected as Vice President in 1999 and acclaimed as President in September 2002.
Among Dr. Halpenny's other professional accomplishments are the following:
- Chairman of the Mid Winter Clinics for Vancouver and District Dental Society
- Past President of the Vancouver and District Dental Society (1994)
- Co-founder of the Association of Women Dentists of BC
- Clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry (1988-1994)
- Past President of the American College of Dentistry (BC Section 2007-2010)

- Award of Merit from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC)
- Distinguished Service Award from the Regulatory Review Taskforce

Myrna remains a sports enthusiast, enjoying golf at Marine Drive Golf Club, fitness workouts at the Arbutus Club and figure skating with her granddaughter. She is married to John Mills and they have a blended family of six adult children.
Myrna is an Olympic fan who enjoys her connections with international sport through John's involvement in the Olympic movement, and has attended three winter Olympics to date. She is also hoping to attend the Summer Games in London, England.
